Chevron Phillips Chemical's Pasadena Plastics Complex Earns VPP STAR Designation

BAYTOWN, TEXAS - On May 14, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration officially recertified Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP's (Chevron Phillips Chemical) Cedar Bayou Plant as a VPP Star site for its exemplary health and safety programs. The Cedar Bayou Plant has maintained its VPP STAR status since 1996. Company management and employees held a ceremony to mark the occasion.

Several members of Chevron Phillips Chemical's senior management team attended the event in addition to OSHA officials, Cedar Bayou plant management and other employees.

"OSHA has set high standards for safety in our industry and today we're celebrating the fact that you continue to work very hard to achieve those standards," said Environment, Health and Safety Vice President Charleen Dickson, in an address to plant employees. "Furthermore, this plant has the talent, the cooperation and the drive to make this year the safest ever."

OSHA's VPP Star designation recognizes facilities that operate with exemplary safety performance and exhibit a true culture of safety, embraced by the entire workforce. Eighteen out of 22 Chevron Phillips Chemical sites are certified VPP Star sites.

"To prepare for the audits, Cedar Bayou's VPP committee holds quarterly and annual plant safety reviews to ensure the plant is operating with optimal safety conditions," said Van Long, Cedar Bayou Plant Manager. "Our employees deserve all the credit for committing to continuous improvement in safety and health performance."
