Where It's Made

Chevron Phillips Chemical produces hydrogenated pyrolysis gasoline (HPG) at its plant in Cedar Bayou, Texas. This product is also made at the Sweeny, Texas plant where it is known as benzene toluene xylene (BTX).


How It's Made

HPG (BTX) is made by the double hydrogenation of raw pyrolysis gasoline (RPG), also known as debutanized aromatic concentrate (DAC).


How It's Transported

HPG (BTX) is transported by barge from terminals on the Houston Ship Channel and at Freeport, Texas.


What It's Used For

HPG (BTX) is a feedstock for the extraction of benzene.
