NSF Registration and Food-Contact Compliance

Most Synfluid® PAOs are both NSF H1 and HX-1 registered. These lubricants are acceptable for incidental food contact (H1) and may be used in and around food-processing areas. Appropriate uses include:

  • Protective anti-rust films
  • Release agents for gaskets or tank-closure seals
  • Lubricants for machine parts and equipment with potential incidental exposure to food

 

Only the minimum amount needed to achieve the technical effect should be used. When applied as an anti-rust film, the product must be washed or wiped off so the equipment surface is effectively free of any substance that could transfer to food.

Synfluid® PAOs may also be used as components of nonfood articles intended for contact with food under 21 CFR 178.3620(b)(1). They also meet the FDA technical white oil specifications described in the same regulation.
